welcome to the underworld

Who knows what lies behind the entrance to Strand Station? The allure of the eerie world beneath the surface of London:  abandoned underground stations, forgotten tunnels, deserted platforms, empty booking offices…

the next stop …

I love these new Circle Line trains. They are spacious, bright and comfortable; and you can see all the way through, from one end to the other.

Looking through windows, looking at windows and looking into windows.

winter solstice

A typical rainy street scene all over London this afternoon on the shortest day of the year.  Winter begins today and, yes, it’s already getting dark!

very cold, very windy, high tides and grey skies …

A brisk walk on a cold afternoon:  looking across the Thames towards the Shard and, just round the corner, an ice-rink in the moat at the Tower of London.

sheep at the royal academy?

What would Sir Joshua Reynolds have thought? But it’s true. A small flock of Bowmont Merino sheep have been running circles round the statue of Reynolds in the courtyard of the Royal Academy of Arts. They were brought here to celebrate the RA’s current exhibition, ‘Australia’, and the final weekend of Wool Week.

Umas ovelhas fofas na Royal Academy!
